As Ukraine accelerates its alignment with the European Union’s tech standards, a critical challenge emerges for local SMEs and public institutions: how to effectively navigate the massive financial instruments provided by Brussels.

On May 7, 2026, Kyiv will host a high-level summit dedicated to the Digital Europe program – the EU’s flagship €7.5 billion initiative designed to bolster economic resilience and drive digital adoption across the continent.
The Infrastructure of Integration: EDIHs
At the heart of this transition are European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs). These entities serve as decentralized engines of growth, helping companies modernize production processes and products through advanced digital tools. For the Ukrainian tech ecosystem, this event marks a shift from experimental participation to systemic integration into the EU digital space.
The event will feature insights from the European Commission, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, and GIZ.
What’s on the Agenda?
The summit is designed to deliver actionable intelligence and practical tools. Participants will explore:
The 2026 Outlook: Current opportunities within the Digital Europe program specifically for Ukraine.
Implementation Milestones: A comprehensive look at the current state and results of the initiative.
The EDIH Ecosystem: The role of Digital Innovation Hubs in supporting both the private and public sectors.
Transformation in Practice: Real-world case studies and tools for implementing digital solutions.
Event Highlights
The program includes keynote presentations on funding opportunities, a panel discussion featuring first-generation EDIH clients, and pitch sessions from the “second generation” of Ukrainian hubs. To ensure maximum reach, the proceedings will be conducted in both Ukrainian and English.

Why It Matters Now
This event is a priority for founders of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), government officials, and NGOs. As Ukraine moves toward full inclusion in the EU’s Single Digital Market, mastering the mechanics of Digital Europe is a fundamental requirement for scaling and securing European funding.

The event is organized under the “Digital Europe” program, with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine acting as the national coordinator. Practical support is provided by the Entrepreneurship and Export Development Office. The initiative is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Government within the “Digital Transformation of SMEs in Eastern Partnership Countries” project and the “EUNITED EDIH” initiative.
The Forward View: As we move into the second half of 2026, the efficiency of these EDIHs will serve as a barometer for Ukraine’s capacity to absorb European capital. The real test lies in how quickly local players can move from “observing” the EU ecosystem to becoming a foundational part of its digital supply chain.
