Ukraine’s export of IT services exceeded $5 billion for the first time, as well as exports of transport services and mineral products according to the NBU data on external accounts and foreign trade. IT industry exports increased by $853 million, or more than 20% per year. Thus, the share of computer services in total exports reached 8.3%
Ihor Samokhodsky, ICT Sector Head at BRDO Ukraine “Despite the challenging year, IT exports increased significantly. The long-term growth in exports of IT services requires to focus on human capital development. It should be addressed both through education (training of new specialists) and through immigration (attracting foreigners).”
Vitaly Sedler, President of the IТ Ukraine Association, CEO of Intellias: “The IT industry is consistently showing high growth rates. The need for digitalization of business processes continues to grow worldwide, so the demand for the expertise of engineers is increasing. In 2020, the Ukrainian IT business has shown that it can quickly adapt to external negative factors without losing productivity. Therefore, I am confident that the industry will continue to grow rapidly, enriching the country. The main thing for this is to ensure stable conditions for the functioning of the IT industry and systemic reform of IT education in Ukraine.”
