[TechUkraine news] The USA streaming software giant Roku will open R&D office in Kyiv

The Calif.-based streaming software giant Roku will open R&D office in Kyiv, Ukraine. Now the company opened 2 positions Site Director and Senior Technical Recruiter.
  • The company got its start as a unit of Netflix in 2007, but the streaming giant sold its stake in 2009, in part because it was concerned about competing with hardware partners such as Apple.
  • Roku essentially sells three things: its streaming hardware that works with TVs, advertising, and its partners’ content sold through its software. Roku lists the last two on that list under “platform revenue,” a segment that is growing while hardware revenue seemingly stalls.
  • TV streaming platform has 11 offices in the USA, Great Britain, Danmark and China. Roku streaming devices are used by millions of consumers in North America, Latin America and in parts of Europe including the UK, Ireland, and France.
