Ukraine is among TOP 10 countries where Unicorn Founders Born according to the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Venture Capital Initiative research!
- Ilya Strebulaev, Professor at Stanford Graduate School of Business & Venture Capital & Private Equity, presented the research “Where Were Unicorn Founders Born?” and shared the data based on a sample of 1,078 founders of 500 US unicorns, identified founders’ countries of birth (which covers 79% of the total founder sample; for the rest, we could not reliably identify this variable).
- Main conclusion: a large number of unicorn founders are first-generation immigrants. 474 founders (44%) were born outside of the US.
- Internationally, 10 countries were the birthplaces of more than 10 founders, with India, Israel, and Canada as the top three, followed by the UK, China, and Germany.
- Ukraine has 12 founder of unicorns, including People.ai, Grammarly, Firefly Aerospace, etc
