In 2024, the Ukrainian AI startup Beholder made headlines across the CEE region by securing a €600,000 investment at the Latitude59 pitch competition. For the global tech community, it was a clear signal: Ukrainian innovation remains a high-stakes contender even under the most challenging conditions.

Now, Latitude59, the flagship tech event of the Baltic and Nordic regions, has officially opened applications for its 2026 Pitch Competition. With a focus on early-stage resilience and cross-border synergy, the organizers are looking for the next “superstars” to take the stage in Tallinn this May.
The Stakes: Capital and Credibility
Latitude59 has evolved from a regional gathering into a potent investment vehicle. In 2025, the competition facilitated a total of €675,000 in investments, backed by the business angel networks of the Baltics (LitBAN, LatBAN, and EstBAN). Recent beneficiaries include:
-
Luna Robotics (Lithuania) – Defense Tech.
-
Adventum Tech (Latvia) – ConTech.
-
MarkeDroid (Estonia) – Green Energy.
For 2026, the organizers are maintaining their aggressive support for early-stage startups, specifically encouraging entries from the defense technology sector—a domain where Ukrainian founders currently hold a distinct competitive edge.
What the Jury is Looking For
The competition targets early-stage startups with more than just a vision. To qualify for the shortlist, teams must demonstrate:
-
A clear mission and a scalable business model.
-
A functional MVP (Minimum Viable Product).
-
Market validation through initial traction or strong user feedback.
“We want to see the most ambitious founders on the Latitude59 stage—those ready to challenge themselves, impress our jury, and then scale their solutions globally”, says Krista Maynarde, Head of Startup and Investor Relations at Latitude59. “I am confident that Ukrainian startups have much to show on our stage”.
The Global Village Experiment
The 14th edition of the conference, held at the historic Kultuurikatel in Tallinn, will center around the theme “The Global Village Experiment”. The hypothesis is simple yet profound: the most valuable technological breakthroughs occur at the intersection of diverse ecosystems. By bringing together representatives from over 70 countries, Latitude59 aims to bridge the gap between the Baltic-Nordic hub and the emerging markets of Africa and Asia.
Key Deadlines and Roadmap
-
April 15, 2026: Application Deadline.
-
April 29, 2026: Announcement of the TOP 30 startups.
-
May 4–8, 2026: Semi-finals and professional mentoring.
-
May 21–22, 2026: Grand Final on the main stage.
Out of hundreds of applicants (last year saw 407 startups from 48 countries), only the top 15 teams will receive intensive pitch training and professional mentoring before the final showdown.
The question for the Ukrainian ecosystem is no longer about participation, but about dominance. Will 2026 see another Ukrainian team replicate Beholder’s success?
Startups can submit their applications via the official Latitude59 website.
