Founded in 2010, Attendify (KitApps at that time) is one of the brightest examples of Ukraine-based startups that have scaled a global business.
Deciding which business vertical to target first was no easy task, the team debated the issue at length, remember Michael Balyasny, CEO Attendify. They were compelling problems that mobile apps can solve in virtually any business, but ultimately we chose to focus on conferences & events. Most of them have been to a conference and know what the experience is like: You show up at 8:30 am half-awake with a cup of Starbucks to pick up your badge. Along with the badge you’re handed a stack of papers with the schedules, speaker profiles, sponsor collateral, etc. In 2010 Michael Balyasny was inspired by the incredible growth in mobile, there were possibilities everywhere you looked. The App Store was still in its nascency and I saw the opportunity to help small businesses go mobile.
KitApps mission was to help small businesses go mobile, we just happened to launch our first template for the event industry. Our initial plan was to create solutions for other verticals, but we started to get lots of traction with the event product. They got around 100 customers through the platform in the first year with almost $0 invested in sales and marketing. We knew we had a business. Having seen some of that early growth they realized how much upside there was in the event market. The team also identified lots of interesting problems to solve with the mobile-first event platform and the vision for a truly impactful business started to crystalize. In 2013 KitApps team decided to focus exclusively on the event industry and rebranded to Attendify.
Today Attendify served over 14,000 events and 3,500 customers. Almost 60% of our business is in the US. The service helps companies like Google, Bloomberg, AstraZeneca, PayPal, TedX and Harvard University, Sage, Phillips, Autodesk, and AOL create differentiating mobile experiences for their events. The company has a rating average of 4.7 stars across G2 Crowd, Capterra, the App Store and Google Play.
