MacPaw is a macOS and iOS software development company.
How does MacPaw work?
MacPaw develops software for macOS and iOS. The company’s mission is to deliver the most popular apps to every Mac. Their products include CleanMyMac, Setapp, Gemini Photos and more. MacPaw‘s active user base exceeds 30 million worldwide. Its headquarters is in Kyiv, Ukraine, with offices in Santa Clara, USA and Cork, Ireland.
MacPaw was founded in Ukraine by Oleksandr Kosovan, a 21-year-old student from Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. In 2008, Kosovan single-handedly wrote the code for the first version of MacPaw’s first product, CleanMyMac, now one of the most popular products for Mac computers.
Now, 11 years later, the company offers a whole suite of software tools to make life easier for Mac users. MacPaw recently launched Setapp, a subscription-based alternative to the Mac App Store. Setapp is a curated app store that lets users download apps from a growing collection of premium Mac software in one suite for plans starting at $9.99 per month.
MacPaw hosts a museum featuring vintage Macs, iPhones and Apple design books. The company made international news in 2016 when it purchased Tekserve’s famous private collection of Apple computers at auction, including almost every Mac ever released.
In 2017, MacPaw purchased the Unarchiver application. MacPaw‘s active user base exceeds 30 million worldwide. Every fifth Mac on Earth has at least one app by MacPaw.
