Digital Tiger: the Power of Ukrainian IT

How does the IT industry affect the Ukrainian economy? Diia City together with IT Ukraine presented the results of the research Digital Tiger: the Power of Ukrainian IT. 

This is a study that shows the real state of affairs in the Ukrainian IT market and compares it with other countries. The goal of the project is to measure Ukraine’s technological potential and to concrete the image of our country as an innovation hub in the world.

The document consists of 4 sections:

  1. Ukraine as an IT powerhouse
  2. Ukraine in the global IT market
  3. IT ecosystem
  4. The value of Ukraine’s IT industry

Key findings:

  • There are 2,150 IT companies operating in Ukraine. The top 5 areas are Business productivity software, Martech & Media, Fintech & InsurTech, HealthTech & Wellness, and E-commerce & Retail.
  • Although the number of taxpayers in the IT industry decreased by 3.1% last year, the number of taxes paid by the IT industry increased by 11.5%.
  • The number of startups in Ukraine is growing, and now it is about 2,600 promising projects. 90% of startups see high growth potential in the future.
  • In 2022, the share of Ukrainian IT services exports in GDP was 4.6%. For comparison, in India it is 2.8%, in the Czech Republic – 1.8%, in Poland – 1.8%, and in Brazil – 0.2%.
