Ukraine Unveils Arsenal of Tomorrow: Long-Range Drones and Battlefield Robotics Steal the Show on Infantry Day

Kyiv, Ukraine – May 7, 2025 – Ukraine’s Infantry Day yesterday wasn’t just a commemoration; it was a powerful declaration of the nation’s burgeoning technological prowess on the battlefield. A landmark exhibition threw open the curtains on a suite of next-generation military hardware, with the spotlight firmly fixed on the formidable FP-1 long-range attack drone—a system capable of reaching an astounding 1,600 kilometers to deliver its payload deep within hostile territory. This showcase, drawing keen attention from military top brass and extensively covered by Mezha Media, vividly illustrated Ukraine’s knack for homegrown innovation, forging tools of defense that are already battle-tested and making a significant impact both on the front lines and in daring behind-the-lines operations.

FP-1: The 1,600km Game-Changer

Dominating the exhibit, the FP-1 isn’t just a drone; it’s a strategic asset engineered for deep-strike missions. This aerial titan can haul a hefty 120-kilogram warhead across vast distances, with its ultimate reach potentially extending further depending on the payload. What’s more, the FP-1 is not a distant concept—it’s rolling off production lines in significant numbers and has already captured the serious attention of Ukraine’s allies.

Anna Hvozdiar, Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries, proudly remarked, “This drone was born in Ukraine and was scaled up very quickly. This is another thing we can share with our partners”. Indeed, whispers from 2024 suggested the FP-1 had already seen action, undertaking missions into Russian territory. Its design, featuring a rocket-assisted launch and forgoing traditional landing gear, hints at a philosophy prioritizing rapid deployment and operational simplicity.

Bulava: The ‘Mace’ of Tactical Strikes

Sharing the limelight was the “Bulava” (Mace), a nimble kamikaze drone forged through Ukrainian-Czech collaboration at UAC. This X-winged hunter is armed with a devastating 3.6 kg combined High-Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) and thermobaric warhead, designed to surgically eliminate targets up to 60 kilometers away.

More than just a drone, Bulava operates as a full-fledged strike ecosystem, complete with its ground control hub, signal relays, and dedicated reconnaissance units for truly autonomous engagements. Catapulted into action and driven by an electric heart, this 11kg drone zips along at up to 100 km/h, loitering for nearly an hour at altitudes reaching 2,000 meters. Fortified with encrypted communications and an EW-hardened CRPA antenna, its reach can be amplified further using MESH networking with repeater drones. The Bulava has reportedly been in serial production since approximately April 2024, ready to make its mark.

TerMIT: The Unmanned Workhorse of the Front Lines

Proving that innovation isn’t confined to the skies, the Ukrainian-engineered “TerMIT” unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) rumbled into view. This rugged, tracked behemoth is a master of battlefield versatility, capable of shouldering loads up to 300 kg (potentially even 400 kg, according to some insights) and trekking up to 20 kilometers (battery configuration dependent), all while navigating terrain at up to 10 km/h.

The brainchild of Tencore LLC, the modular TerMIT is no mere prototype; it’s a seasoned warrior already proving its mettle with Ukrainian forces. Its adaptable design sees it tackling indispensable logistical missions—ferrying vital supplies and ammunition, executing critical casualty evacuations, and even laying down fire support, having been spotted armed with formidable heavy machine guns like the 12.7mm Browning and potent grenade launchers.

This Infantry Day showcase was more than a display of military hardware; it was a resounding statement of Ukraine’s innovative spirit and unwavering resolve. The advanced, domestically-driven solutions on display—from strategic long-reach aerial platforms to versatile ground support robots—are not just meeting immediate defense needs. They are actively reshaping Ukraine’s technological posture on the modern battlefield, heralding a new era of sophisticated, homegrown defense capabilities poised to make a decisive difference.
