ICLUB, the International Club of Private Investors, together with TA Ventures, a venture capital fund, is launching an online course to teach the basics of angel investing. The program was created in-house and is aimed primarily at beginners who want to take their first steps in the venture capital industry.
The program
The course lasts three hours in the format of 20 video lectures. The lectures are divided into four modules. There are also homework assignments.
Module I. Introduction to angel investing. Portfolio theory, deal search and the general investment process;
Module II. Due diligence. Checking and analyzing investment projects;
Module III. Negotiation. Legal aspects and types of transactions, technical conditions, valuation methods and further strategies;
Module IV. Diversification and exits. Making decisions on further investments and monitoring the company’s performance.
As a result of the course, the investor is expected to have a minimum of knowledge to analyze deals and make an independent decision on investments.
According to Yuriy Romaniukha, the club’s managing partner, the need for the course arose due to the need to scale. “We started in 2018 with a few dozen members, whose many questions could be easily answered in messengers or in person. Now the club has hundreds of investors from dozens of countries, so it has become impossible to communicate with each of them individually,” he added.
The course was developed in close cooperation with TA Ventures, which has more than ten years of experience in venture capital investing in international technology companies. In turn, ICLUB had statistics on the most popular requests from novice investors, on the basis of which the course program was built.
The program is available here. The course is free for all users of the ICLUB platform who have registered. Access can be obtained without this step, but the cost is $400.
