In a striking display of defense innovation, Ukrainian company Besomar has pulled back the curtain on its latest creation: a reusable interceptor drone armed with a fully automated shotgun. This isn’t just a concept; it’s a new predator designed to dominate the skies and neutralize enemy drones with unprecedented efficiency. Presented at the Iron Demo 2025 exposition, this aircraft-style drone is engineered for a single, crucial mission: to hunt and destroy. “There was a demand for something new, something that could shoot in the air and return”, a Besomar representative told “Militarnyi”, and the company delivered.

Key Features of the Hunter:
- Aerial Firepower: The drone is equipped with a 12-gauge shotgun, featuring a recoilless system that ensures perfect stability when firing. It currently carries two rounds, with the potential to upgrade to four.
- Blazing Speed & Precision: It can intercept targets moving at speeds up to 200 km/h, making it a lethal threat to Russian assets like the “Gerbera” UAVs and various reconnaissance drones.
- Stealth Approach: Thanks to a sophisticated digital communication system with frequency hopping (FHSS), the interceptor can close in on its prey undetected by standard Russian anti-drone systems.
- Automated Kill Mode: This is where the drone truly shines. While a pilot can fire manually, the drone boasts an automatic mode. A sensor in its nose, with the pilot’s authorization, automatically triggers the shot the moment a target enters the kill zone. This system is a game-changer against fast, maneuvering targets, where human reaction time might not be enough.
Launched by catapult and guided by a rotating digital camera, Besomar’s interceptor is more than just a weapon; it’s a testament to Ukraine’s relentless drive to create smarter, stronger, and more effective solutions to defend its sovereignty. It’s a clear message: Ukraine’s tech front is as dynamic and resilient as its front lines.
