Kyiv, Ukraine – In a bold and aggressive move set to reshape the nation’s defence landscape, Ukrainian FPV drone manufacturer Vyriy Drone is injecting over $4 million into the DefenceTech sector, spearheading a powerful M&A strategy to consolidate and scale local innovation. The company is actively acquiring promising Ukrainian startups, rapidly expanding its ecosystem of UAVs and adjacent technologies.
This strategic push is an amplification of Vyriy Drone’s aggressive growth policy, which has already seen the company acquire five tech firms in 2025 alone. Vyriy Drone’s founder, Oleksiy Babenko, confirmed the investment plans to Forbes, signaling a clear intent to build a dominant, vertically integrated force in Ukraine’s military technology sector.
“We primarily buy either 50% or 100%”, Babenko explained, clarifying Vyriy Drone’s investment strategy. “We only entered one company with a 20% stake”. This approach ensures deep integration and control, allowing Vyriy Drone to rapidly scale the production and development of its new assets.
A Rapidly Expanding Defence Ecosystem
Vyriy Drone’s recent acquisitions demonstrate a multi-faceted approach to building a comprehensive arsenal of technologies:
- Ground Robotics: In June, Vyriy Drone acquired Cyber Droid, a Lviv-based manufacturer of logistics and medical evacuation robotic ground platforms. Vyriy Drone is set to invest up to $500,000 to launch its production, hire an additional 100 specialists, and guide the product through to official codification.
- Advanced Aerial Platforms: The company has secured a 51% stake in three UAV developers: “Blyskavka” (an adapted version of the Russian “Molniya” strike UAV), “Veresen” (an FPV drone carrier or “mothership”), and “Sokil” (a light reconnaissance drone).
- Component Sovereignty: According to YouControl data, Vyriy Drone also acquired a 51% share in drone manufacturer “RNK Solutions” and “Synevir”, a company specializing in electronic components. This move aligns with Vyriy Drone’s core mission of localizing its supply chain, with over 80% of its product components already being Ukrainian-made.
With these acquisitions, Vyriy Drone is not just buying companies; it’s building an end-to-end powerhouse. The company has also stated it is now keenly interested in acquiring a developer of advanced guidance systems to further enhance its portfolio.
In-House Innovation at the Core
This acquisition spree is built upon Vyriy Drone’s own strong foundation of internal R&D. Specializing in FPV drones, signal repeaters, and ground control stations, the company has consistently pushed the envelope.
In December 2024, Vyriy Drone announced a fully localized 10-inch FPV drone, a landmark achievement in Ukrainian manufacturing. The drone features motors from Motor-G, a video transmitter from December1, and a “Kurbas-256” thermal imaging camera from Odd Systems—all Ukrainian companies.
This year, Vyriy Drone also unveiled its first ground drone, the “Dzhankoi”. This formidable unit comes equipped with Starlink connectivity and can act as a mobile ambush platform, carrying up to six FPV drones with fiber-optic cables for complex, coordinated strikes.
As Vyriy Drone continues its aggressive expansion, it sends a clear message to the global tech community: Ukraine is not just defending itself; it’s building the future of defence technology, one strategic acquisition at a time.
