The IT community DOU.UA has been exploring Ukrainian IT education. As a result, DOU published its analytics — IT University Ranking 2023, with the key points related to the trends, achievements and educational system in general.

UCU is an undisputed leader, KPI is among the top ten, and several universities in Kharkiv are at the bottom. After a year-long break due to a full-scale invasion, DOU resumed its annual ranking of IT universities. This year, they changed the ranking format and built it on three indicators: data from salary surveys regarding compensation for specialists, their knowledge of English, and the impressions of students and graduates about the educational process and its results – whether they are ready to recommend their university to others. Only those who already work or plan to work in IT were considered.
Among the most interesting results:
- UCU is the undisputed leader in the university rankings, and KPI named after Sikorsky is in 8th place.
- More than 90% of IT professionals have higher education or are pursuing it, and only 4% do not recommend prospective students to obtain higher education.
- 77% of students and recent graduates would recommend higher education in Ukraine to prospective students, and 19% would recommend it abroad.
- 79% of current students in Ukrainian universities study entirely online.
- Most students of Kiev universities, as well as universities located near the front lines, study entirely online.
- Only two universities in the ranking primarily offer offline education – UCU and KhNU (Khmelnytskyi).
- 34% of students consider face-to-face learning more effective, while 30% prefer distance learning.
