IT Generation, a project which provided free IT training to Ukrainians, has been completed. 1877 students have successfully mastered new IT specialties. And almost 150 of the first students have already been able to find jobs in IT companies.
The project’s training lasted from September 2022 to July 2023, depending on the school and the specific course.

“IT Generation is one of the flagship projects of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, as the development of education is very important for the future economic and technological growth of our country. Therefore, IT Generation is just the beginning. We will continue to help talented Ukrainians build successful careers in the promising technology industry,” said Oleksandr Borniakov, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, — the press office of the Ministry of Digital Transformation reports.

“Education is one of the priority areas of work for Lviv IT Cluster. Together with IT companies and universities, we have launched 19 modernized bachelor’s degree programs in Lviv. More than 4500 students are currently enrolled in them. The tech sector is a human capital industry. Therefore, the development of education is an investment in the future of the tech industry. We are grateful to our partners and the Ministry of Digital Transformation for their fruitful cooperation and work on the IT Generation project. Together, we have created an opportunity for every Ukrainian to get a new promising profession free of charge and start a successful career in IT, even despite the challenges of war and difficult times for Ukrainian IT,” added Stepan Veselovsky, CEO of Lviv IT Cluster.
So far, 147 graduates have been able to find jobs in the IT field. Project students find their first job in IT quite quickly, and this number may double in the near future. Most often, the project students found jobs in Project (Product) Management, HR, and JavaScript. The highest number of employed people is among graduates of GoIT (20.6% of all students), Source IT (19%), and A-Level (15.7%) schools.
As part of the project, partner Binance Charity allocated $1 million for scholarships for 1830 students. Another 370 participants studied at the expense of schools.
“The IT Generation project has become an important milestone in our partnership with the Ministry of Digital Transformation. We are very pleased that it has demonstrated real value. The project was designed to support Ukrainians who lost their jobs due to the war and became another proof of the positive impact of cryptocurrencies and blockchain on the transformation of our society,” said Kirill Khomyakov, General Manager of Binance Ukraine.
“UNDP in Ukraine is committed to supporting the livelihoods and employment of Ukrainians, which are priority issues for the Government. Our ultimate goal is to empower and give people ownership of their lives and future. Through our strategic partnership with Sweden and through the IT Generation project, we have helped Ukrainians affected by the war to acquire new knowledge and a competitive profession. This will help them to get new sources of livelihood,” said UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Ukraine Christoforos Politis.
323 students were unable to complete their studies due to problems caused by Russian aggression, such as power outages or relocation to other countries. And also due to personal circumstances. Most of the students did not complete their studies in the Frontend program.
The IT Generation project of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine was launched at the end of June 2022 in partnership with Binance Charity and the Lviv IT Cluster, as well as with the support of the USAID Competitive Economy Program and the Digital, Inclusive, Accessible: Supporting the Digitalization of Public Services in Ukraine project, implemented by UNDP in Ukraine with the support of Sweden.
