In December 2023, Lviv IT Cluster presented the results of the IT Research Ukraine 2023: Adaptability and Resilience in Time of War project. This is the largest study on the state and prospects of the IT industry in Ukraine and in each of the regions, which has no analogues. The Cluster implemented the project in partnership with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and with the support of the USAID Competitive Economy Program. IT Research Ukraine by Lviv IT Cluster is the only detailed comprehensive study of Ukraine’s tech industry during the war, the results of which provide an understanding of the current market situation today and a forecast of the industry’s development in the future in order to:
- implement qualitative changes and make informed business decisions based on numbers and data
- optimize business processes and investments
- choose the right focus/vector of the company’s development
- assess and prepare for potential risks in advance in the face of constant change
The document consists of five parts, including: an overview of the IT industry in Ukraine, peculiarities of local industries, the economy of war, migration sentiments of IT specialists, economic expectations of IT market participants and forecasts.
For example, speaking about the economics of war, 58% of Ukrainian companies have had contracts terminated since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. At the same time, 27% of companies say that the number of new potential orders has increased.
Regarding economic expectations, 35% of professionals have positive economic expectations for the development of the IT industry in Ukraine. According to 40% of respondents, the median salary will remain at the same level in the coming year. 48% of specialists believe that the number of vacancies in Ukraine will decrease.
