Forbes, a renowned American business magazine, stands as a beacon of authoritative insight into the world of business, finance, and entrepreneurship.
With a rich history dating back to its founding in 1917, Forbes has consistently provided a platform for thought leaders, industry titans, and innovative minds, offering a comprehensive perspective on the ever-evolving landscape of the world’s economic and business sectors. On March 7, 2024, Forbes published an article about the specifics of manufacturing Ukrainian drones during the war. Here’s what Forbes writes about the development of FPI drones by Ukrainians:
In 2023 Ukraine’s goal was to acquire 200,000 drones. For 2024 President Zelensky announced they would build a million. The plan seems to be on course Hanna Hvozdiar, Deputy Minister of Strategic Industries, told Forbes production totaled approximately 200,000 FPV drones in January and February 2024.
These numbers may seem hard to believe. Just months, ago the idea that Ukraine could amass 50,000 drones for an attack sounded like scaremongering to some Russians. Now they claim to produce twice that many every month. And the key element may be a new approach: crowdsourcing the assembly to an army of volunteers like Oleksii working at home in the evening.
“Do you want to build an FPV drone with your own hands that will burn a Russian tank? Then this opportunity is for you!” runs an advert for the People’s FPV program set up by the government and run by Victory Drones and the Vyriy company.
The program, announced by Drone Supremo and Minister for Digital Transformation Mykhail Fedorov in January offers a two-week course of live Zoom lectures followed by question and answer sessions.
“We had a lot of questions because it was a new topic for the vast majority of the audience,” Ilya, a photographer, told Ukrinform. “The Victory Drones and Social Drone UA communities [FPV drone communities] have chats where you can consult, post your work, and share useful information with like-minded people. This is a great support for beginners.”
