Ukrainian developers have showcased new capabilities of fiber-optic communication systems integrated into various types of drones. This technology significantly boosts the drones’ resilience to electronic warfare, making them a game-changer on the battlefield.
During a demonstration, the DRONARIUM team showcased an FPV drone with fiber-optic control, capable of aggressive maneuvering while carrying a payload. The team also demonstrated bomber copters conducting bombing runs over forested areas and FPV drones being dropped from a larger aircraft before carrying out combat missions.

The key advantages of fiber-optic systems include stable telemetry transmission, control, and video data with minimal delay. These systems boast bandwidth ranging from 100 to 1000 Mbps. They are immune to enemy electronic warfare and are ten times cheaper than secure radio communication systems with more modest characteristics.
The main drawback is the small probability of fiber breakage, which is minimized by using reliable materials and training operators through a short training course on controlling unmanned aerial vehicles based on fiber-optic systems.
In addition to aerial drones, the developers also demonstrated the integration of a fiber-optic communication system on a ground-based unmanned platform.
The use of fiber-optic communication systems in unmanned systems brings the fight against electronic warfare to a new level. Drones become invulnerable to interference, and the quality of communication remains stable under any conditions. This technology is a revolutionary solution that will help bring victory closer.
