From Local Growth to Global Intelligence: How Ukraine’s Zeely Outpaced 50,000 Startups to Secure $1M from Deel

The modern digital advertising landscape is increasingly hostile to small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). Blocked by the soaring costs of traditional marketing agencies and trapped behind the complex technical barriers of enterprise-grade ad platforms, smaller enterprises face a stark paradox: to grow, they need data-driven marketing, but to afford data-driven marketing, they must already have scaled. This systemic market inefficiency is precisely what Ukrainian AI-driven startup Zeely set out to solve.

Now, the company’s thesis has received a massive validation on the global stage. Zeely has emerged as the winner of the prestigious international startup competition organized by Deel and J.P. Morgan in Paris. Competing against an initial pool of over 50,000 startups worldwide, Zeely advanced through a rigorous selection process into the final cohort of 84 companies, ultimately securing the top spot.

As a direct result of this victory, global HR and payroll giant Deel is investing $1 million into the Ukrainian company. The high-stakes pitch was evaluated by a judging panel featuring representatives and partners from top-tier venture funds, including Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Tencent.

Strategic Capital for Zeely 2.0

The newly acquired $1 million investment will not be a standalone injection but will instead form a vital part of a broader, comprehensive funding round dedicated to the development and deployment of Zeely 2.0 – the next architectural evolution of their proprietary product.

Zeely's Growth Trajectory at a Glance:
- Founding Team: Dmytro Samoiljuk, Yaroslav Samoiljuk, Alina Bondarenko
- Current Headcount: 170+ professionals
- Year-over-Year (YoY) Growth: 6x+ revenue/user expansion
- Global User Base: 1M+ users
- Core Target Market: United States

Originally built as an AI-powered mobile application designed to help SMBs generate creative assets and launch digital ad campaigns without technical expertise, Zeely is shifting its paradigm. The upcoming Zeely 2.0 iteration aims to establish a full-scale AI Marketing Intelligence Platform.

Rather than simply automating asset creation and ad delivery, the new system is engineered to function as an autonomous marketing department. It will independently analyze performance data, generate strategic hypotheses, execute live A/B testing, and scale successful ad variations autonomously, effectively removing human error and agency overhead from the equation.

Beyond core product development, a significant portion of the capital will be allocated toward aggressive talent acquisition within the local market to support this deep-tech transition.

“Winning Pitch by Deel directly supports our primary goal of becoming the number one product in our category”, the Zeely team stated. “The greatest treasure behind Zeely is an incredibly talented team in performance marketing, AI & Creativity, and engineering—over 170 people from the Ukrainian ecosystem. To realize our ambitions, we will actively expand it, and a significant portion of these funds will go precisely toward hiring top-tier specialists”.

From Bootstrapping to Global Scale: The Google for Startups Catalyst

The foundational blueprint for Zeely’s hyper-growth was drawn by its co-founders – Dmytro Samoiljuk, Yaroslav Samoiljuk, and Alina Bondarenko – who brought over eight years of deep domain expertise in digital and performance marketing. However, bridging the gap between a robust local product and a highly competitive Western market required structured scaling, a milestone accelerated by their participation in the Google for Startups ecosystem.

Through the Google for Startups Ukraine Support Fund, the team secured critical non-dilutive capital and, more importantly, direct mentorship from Google’s global network of product engineers and cloud architects. This equity-free backing allowed Zeely to refine its machine learning algorithms, optimize its cloud infrastructure for rapid data processing, and systematically lower its user acquisition costs (CAC) ahead of its US market push. The technical validation gained through Google’s infrastructure served as a launchpad, driving the platform to surpass 1 million global users, with the United States solidifying as its primary revenue-generating market.

This operational maturity positioned the startup to successfully raise a $1 million seed round in April 2023. That round was backed by prominent regional and impact venture funds, including Vesna.Capital, ZAS Ventures, Angel One Fund, Imaguru Ventures, and a syndicate of strategic business angels. With the team now expanding past 170 specialists, the platform is maintaining a blistering growth rate of over 6x year-over-year.

B2B Evolution and Global Expansion

As the company prepares to roll out its autonomous intelligence features, its long-term commercial roadmap includes two fundamental shifts:

  • Enterprise and B2B Penetration: While the initial product was optimized for solo entrepreneurs and SMBs, Zeely is adapting its infrastructure to seamlessly integrate into established corporate workflows. The B2B version will cooperate with existing marketing teams, acting as an AI co-pilot that enhances execution speed and data analysis for mid-market brands.

  • Multi-Localization: To truly democratize digital commerce, the platform is expanding its language models and creative generation engines to support a diverse array of global audiences, regions, and localized consumer behaviors.

By transitioning from a tactical creation tool into a strategic, self-optimizing marketing brain, Zeely is positioning itself to lead the next wave of AI-driven ad tech. The ultimate question facing the industry is no longer whether AI can generate a marketing campaign, but whether venture capital and enterprise brands are ready to hand over the keys of entire marketing budgets to autonomous intelligence platforms. If Zeely’s trajectory is any indication, the shift is already well underway.
