During the annual August conference of the Ministry of Education and Science, Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov and Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi presented a vision of the education sector transformation.
The teams worked on developing the new vision for over 5 months with the involvement of experts and the public.
The conference participants, including government leaders, educators, and representatives of NGOs, discussed strategic directions for the development of preschool and school education. In particular, the use of digital tools and artificial intelligence in the educational process, — the press office of the Ministry of Digital Transformation reports.
“President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set a task for the Government related to the development of human capital. Together with the relevant ministry, we have set an ambitious goal to create a Ukrainian educational miracle. We want to build an education system that is capable of creating professional and happy people for a new innovative economy. Citizens who are able to protect themselves and their homes from any threats. In order to realize the educational miracle, we need decisive and ambitious transformations,” said Mykhailo Fedorov.
Education is the country’s second priority after winning the war. It is educated people with relevant knowledge and skills who will be able to reach the goal of a trillion US dollars for Ukraine’s GDP. That’s why Mykhailo Fedorov and the team of the Ministry of Education and Science have formed a vision of what the education of the future should look like to achieve this ambitious goal and get a new result. At the same time, experts and stakeholders are actively involved in discussing the education transformation strategy to take into account the needs and demands of educators.
“A Ukrainian is successful when he or she is free, and the education system is effective when a person is at the center. Today we are presenting a vision for the development of Ukrainian education. The key values include freedom, self-realization, and development. At the same time, we must take into account the peculiarities of the present, so the Ministry of Education and Science should become part of the defense strategy. Education prepares a person for tomorrow, so today we have to form conscious citizens and future developers of technological solutions for our victory,” said Lisovyi.

The principal should become a proactive manager of the educational institution, with a clear vision and implementation of innovative approaches to education. The teams are already developing a training program for principals that will help them develop new skills and achieve their goals.
Educator.
It is necessary to rethink the teaching profession and create conditions for professional development, training, self-realization, and ensure decent pay. First and foremost, a teacher should be a happy person who motivates students.
Educational space
Schools should become modern spaces where children develop as individuals, where they create functional places for communication and learning.
Content and meanings of education
This point involves changes to educational programs, learning formats, and teaching. In educational institutions, children should not only acquire knowledge, but also develop soft skills – sociability, stress resistance, curiosity, and emotional intelligence. They should be creative, generate ideas, learn to integrate into new areas.
