Quantum-Systems Doubles Down on Drone Production in Ukraine

German drone manufacturer Quantum-Systems is significantly ramping up its presence in Ukraine. Having already established a production facility and R&D center in the country, the company plans to double its Ukrainian drone output in 2025. This news was revealed during a meeting between Ukrainian government officials and Quantum-Systems representatives at the Munich Security Conference.

Quantum-Systems’ investment in Ukraine represents a major commitment to supporting the country’s defense efforts. The company’s Ukrainian factory, which began operations in the spring of 2024, is already producing Vector reconnaissance drones for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This facility is one of seven Quantum-Systems factories worldwide, and the company plans to invest up to six million euros in the project over the next two years.

The expansion of production in Ukraine highlights the growing importance of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in modern warfare. Quantum-Systems’ drones are known for their advanced capabilities, including long-range reconnaissance and surveillance. The company is also working on integrating acoustic detection technology into its Twister, Vector, and Reliant drones, which would allow them to pinpoint enemy artillery and mortar positions up to 15 kilometers away.

This move by Quantum-Systems not only strengthens Ukraine’s defense capabilities but also demonstrates the company’s confidence in the country’s potential as a hub for drone technology. With its skilled workforce and strategic location, Ukraine is poised to play an increasingly important role in the global UAV market.
