Despite the ongoing full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, Western companies continue to enter the Ukrainian market. This is a testament to the resilience of the Ukrainian people and the potential of the Ukrainian market.
One such company is ARX Robotics, a German manufacturer of robotic systems. ARX Robotics has recently opened an office in Ukraine and become a resident of Diia.City, a special economic zone for IT companies. The company plans to move some of its production and development processes to Ukraine.
ARX Robotics develops autonomous modular unmanned ground systems and advanced digital solutions that are used in both military and commercial applications. The company has created 12 different types of robots. One of their products, the GEREON RCS, will soon be helping the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the front.
The GEREON RCS is a multi-purpose tracked modular platform. It can be used to deliver cargo, such as food or ammunition, to the front line, and to evacuate the wounded. This helps to save the lives of soldiers in the most dangerous areas of the front.
The platform is already in service with the armies of Germany, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, and has been deployed as part of NATO missions on the eastern flank in Lithuania and Slovakia. In February, 30 units of this equipment were also received by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Residency in Diia.City will allow the company to conduct business under the most favorable tax conditions, attract Ukrainian specialists, and develop production and research facilities faster,” said Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine. “Last year, the company received funding from NATO for the development of robots. Now it will be able to scale up thanks to the tools of Diia.City.”
“The focus in the Ukrainian office will be on technical specialists who will service the systems that we will supply to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine,” said the CEO of ARX Robotics Ukraine in November. He added that these will be hardware and software engineers, as well as technical support specialists for prompt maintenance.
The fact that Western companies like ARX Robotics continue to invest in Ukraine despite the ongoing war is a sign of confidence in the future of the country. It is also a testament to the fact that Ukraine is a valuable market with a lot to offer.
