In a landmark achievement for the Ukrainian tech ecosystem, AI-powered marketing startup Contera.ai has officially joined the prestigious Techstars Tokyo Accelerator, securing a $120,000 investment and marking its place as the first-ever Ukrainian company to be selected for the program.

Emin Aliekpierov, the founder and CEO of Contera.ai, announced the breakthrough on LinkedIn, heralding it as a “great milestone” for his company. “Excited to announce that right now we are working on Contera under the support of Techstars Tokyo Accelerator 2025 in Japan — as the first Ukrainian startup ever selected for this program”, he stated, underscoring the historic nature of their participation.
The accomplishment is made even more significant by the intense competition for a spot in this year’s cohort. According to Aliekpierov, the program saw a record-breaking number of applications from over 120 countries, making it the most competitive selection process in Techstars’ history.
The Deal Structure
Speaking to Forbes Ukraine, Aliekpierov detailed the investment terms. Techstars is injecting $120,000 in exchange for a 5% equity stake. The deal also includes a $100,000 SAFE (Simple Agreement for Future Equity) note, a common instrument that allows an investor to acquire shares in a future funding round.
The AI Marketing Powerhouse
So, what is Contera.ai? It’s a modular SaaS platform designed to revolutionize the $12 billion digital marketing industry. The platform acts as an intelligent command center, aggregating data from a multitude of sources—including CRM systems, Google Analytics, SEO tools like Ahrefs and SEMrush, advertising accounts, and even competitor websites.
Its core mission is to use AI to automatically pinpoint and rectify weaknesses in paid advertising channels and on-site SEO. Critically, Contera.ai works proactively, fixing errors without waiting for a user query or prompt, essentially putting a company’s marketing optimization on autopilot.
From Bootstrap to Global Accelerator
The journey to Tokyo has been one of strategic growth. Aliekpierov initially developed the product with approximately $15,000 of his own funds. The company later gained its first institutional backing with a $25,000 grant from the YEP Accelerator.
With the new funding and mentorship from Techstars, Contera.ai is setting ambitious goals. Alekperov stated that over the next three months, the startup plans to leverage the investment to make the analysis and launch of marketing campaigns “simple, affordable, and effective” for businesses everywhere. This move signals a new chapter for Contera.ai as it prepares to scale its innovative solution on the global stage.
