The Ukrainian Startup Fund launches the IDF Awards — the premier annual initiative honoring the visionaries, risk-takers, and builders who have made the most significant impact on Ukraine’s innovation landscape in 2025.
As the year draws to a close, it is time to recognize the key players driving the nation’s tech evolution. The IDF Awards are designed to celebrate excellence across the entire spectrum of the ecosystem: from university labs to global markets, and from visionary investors to the startups themselves.
Here is an overview of the IDF Awards 2025 nominations and what it takes to win.
🏆 The Nominations
▪️ Startup of the Year The definition of success. This award goes to the startup that has demonstrated the greatest progress, scaling capabilities, or impact on the ecosystem throughout 2025.
Key Criteria: Growth dynamics (product development, team growth, investment), innovation (unique tech, competitive advantage), and reputation (market recognition and social/economic impact).
▪️ Best University-Based Startup From the lab to the market. Honoring a team or project born within a scientific or university environment that has shown strong potential for technology commercialization.
Key Criteria: Scientific and technological foundation, commercialization potential (business model, readiness for market), and impact on the university community (fostering entrepreneurship culture).
▪️ Incubator | Accelerator of the Year The launchpads of innovation. Awarded to the program or institution that has made the most significant contribution to startup development through mentorship, acceleration, and access to capital.
Key Criteria: Quality of methodology, alumni results (funding, growth), and ecosystem contribution (partnerships and events).
▪️ Investor of the Year Fueling growth. Recognizing an investor or fund actively supporting Ukrainian innovative companies and facilitating their expansion into global markets.
Key Criteria: Investment activity (volume and number of deals in 2025), strategic impact (expertise, scaling support), and support for the local ecosystem.
▪️ Hero of the Ecosystem The driving force. A personal award for a leader, mentor, or initiator who has made an outstanding contribution to the development of the Ukrainian innovation ecosystem.
Key Criteria: Leadership, impactful initiatives, mentorship, and community recognition.
📢 Community Choice Awards
▪️ Best Startup – People’s Choice The audience decides. This award goes to the startup with the strongest public backing, determined by an open vote.
Key Criteria: Public support, openness, active communication, and the ability to inspire.
▪️ Ecosystem Organization – Startups’ Choice The founders’ voice. An award for an organization (association, cluster, or community) chosen by startups themselves as their key partner of the year.
Key Criteria: Concrete actions benefiting teams (programs, resources), and systemic impact on the ecosystem (advocacy, events).
