The war in Ukraine has brought unprecedented challenges to businesses across the country. Yet, the tech sector continues to innovate and thrive, demonstrating remarkable resilience.

TechUkraine, as one of  key players within this vibrant community, has actively contributed to this success story through a range of past and ongoing initiatives. Here is an overview of our efforts:

Empowering Startups:

  • EmpoWomen: This EU-funded Horizon Europe program successfully provides women-led deep tech startups with funding via Sploro, mentorship and Startup Wise Guys acceleration, and access to European investors of Business Angels Europe network. TechUkraine is actively involved in the communication and other activities within the programme.
  • ExcellEnt: With the support of EU via Horizon Europe programme, through collaboration with EU ecosystems and study of success stories across 6 ecosystems (France, Ireland, Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey and Ukraine), Ukrainian entrepreneurs strengthen their business practices and foster international connections.
  • Startup-in-Residence: This initiative has successfully connected startups with cities of Kyiv and Vinnitsya, enabling them to develop and test solutions for real-world urban challenges. The program continues to be a valuable resource for fostering innovation and collaboration.

Showcasing Ukrainian Tech on the Global Stage:

  • TechUkraine Portal: This comprehensive platform serves as a central hub for information about the Ukrainian tech ecosystem, highlighting its achievements and innovations. It remains a vital resource for connecting stakeholders and promoting Ukrainian tech on the global stage.
  • Consolidated Pitch Deck of UA Tech Ecosystem: Developed in collaboration with key stakeholders, this pitch deck continues to be a compelling tool for attracting investment and showcasing the sector’s resilience and potential.
  • Co-organizing and promoting UA delegations in Global Events: Ukrainian startups are consistently making their mark at major tech events like CES, VivaTech, London Tech Week, TNW, Bits&Pretsels and others, gaining international recognition and attracting potential investors. TechUkraine plays a powerful role of facilitator, connector and communicator for stakeholders when organizing joint missions to most important tech events. Continued participation in such events is crucial for maintaining this momentum.

TechUkraine Initiatives

Everything you need to know about Ukrainian Tech is available on our Portal. We systematically gather and disseminate information about achievements of the Ukrainian Tech sector to the whole world. TechUkraine Portal is a media tool for Ukrainian Tech Sector promotion to the international audience. It includes several different formats: news, updates, announcements, interviews and showcases.

We aim to create a single hub of communication for Ukraine as a technological and talented nation, and bring about a positive connection to the rest of the world.

Alongside this, comes building bridges between nations, creating an environment for businesses, growing knowledge institutions and helping capital providers to find each other.

We have launched the portal which acts as a guide for the Ukrainian Tech ecosystem, and it includes a website, social media presence and campaigns. The TechUkraine brand aims to frame, unite and strengthen the entire ecosystem.

We believe the aim of the portal is to:

  • Build, load and spread the TechUkraine narrative
  • Unite existing tech communities in a single platform / go-to portal
  • Spark entrepreneurship at multiple levels and across the triple helix

TechUkraine in partnership with UNIT.City, Ministry of Digital Transformation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and many other stakeholders of the sphere took the initiative to create the up-to-date pitch deck for the Ukrainian tech industry.
During 9 months of developing the project “How to Pitch Ukrainian Tech”, we went through several stages 
  • launched all-Ukrainian survey,
  • conducted several meetings with ecosystem stakeholders – ideathons and brainstorms, during which we consolidated messages and proving facts
  • presented the concept and wrapped it into a presentation
  • implemented it into: a joint initiative of the Ukrainian ecosystem pavilion at Web Summit and the promo video of presenting the tech ecosystem by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and TechUkraine

Comprehensive project overview

EmpoWomen is a project funded by the Horizon Europe programme of the European Union.

It was born to overcome the obstacles of digital and deep tech innovations led by women and improve equality in the entrepreneurship deep tech domain. EmpoWomen TechEU offers a unique programme for scaling up women-led companies from the Widening Area. The project includes two open calls that provide a unique acceleration programme, and up to 60,000 euros of free-equity funding for 25 selected women-led companies.

ExcellEnt is a project with the mission to strengthen entrepreneurial practices and build bridges across EU entrepreneurial ecosystems.

Funded by the Horizon Europe programme of the European Union, the working group of the ExcellEnt project conducts comprehensive research and analysis of hundreds of unspoken business practices. TechUkraine serves as one of the ExcellEnt’s consortium members, responsible for the communications and PR.

Since April to July 2021, TechUkraine was working on the project “Boosting local traditional industries with IT capacities” which aims to increase the competitiveness of machine building and creative industries via their digitalization with the help of Ukrainian IT companies.

The project was done in partnership with APPAU – Association of Industrial Automation of Ukraine, International Association of Culture & Creativity, Ukrainian Culture Fund and with the financial support of the European Union and German government and implemented by the German federal company Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

STiR is an incubation program for startups who have ideas for solving specific problems of municipalities.

STiR selects talented entrepreneurial teams and assists them in the development of innovative products. The main objective is to support startups by developing a sustainable business model, test their products and providing them with the first paying customer, connect cities and startups.
