Incident Response Days. Cybersecurity Competition

On June 12-13, 2023, the National Cybersecurity Coordination Center of the National Security Council of Ukraine and CRDF Global in Ukraine, with the support of the US State Department, held a two-day Incident Response Days Cybersecurity Competition. The event united over a hundred public sector professionals in 19 teams participating in the competition.

The event combined cyber security competitions, cyber operations training, incident response, and forensics. Participants worked for 6 hours on a unique scenario, investigated incidents, collected artifacts, and analyzed malicious software.

For the first time, the Ukrainian new generation cyber polygon – UnitRange, developed by Cyber Unit Technologies, was used to perform the tasks. Participants also received training on the safe use of artificial intelligence technologies, digital forensics, and cyber threat information-sharing practices.

The technological partners of the Incident Response Days were Cyber Unit Technologies and CyberLab. Yehor Aushev, head of Cyber Unit Technologies, noted that the UnitRange has more than 150 scenarios that simulate attacks and defenses in cyberspace.

UnitRange is the first cyber polygon in Ukraine, which has a simple interface in the Ukrainian language. It was created during the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. It enables specialists of the public and private sectors to exercise the practical skills that will speed up our victory in the cyber war, — Yehor commented.

The platform’s standout feature is its unified dashboard, which offers unprecedented visibility into the cybersecurity preparedness of each individual. This monitoring tool provides an unparalleled level of transparency and control, equipping organizations to take proactive measures and bolster their cyber defenses further.

Moreover, Unit Range’s holistic approach offers significant cost savings by integrating cyber awareness and technical training in one comprehensive platform. Businesses can streamline their cybersecurity initiatives, optimizing resources while elevating their cyber resilience.
